Biography

What's new?

Since the COVID-19 pandemic forced everyone to stay in isolation, I started working on guitar arrangements for solo fingerstyle  of popular songs. I enjoyed making these arrangements so much, that now I try to do one a week. You can listen to them here on my website or in my YouTube channel. I also have PDF versions of each arrangement ready to print for purchase. If you have a request of a particular song, please send me a message from the contact page.

Quick Summary

I was born in Caracas, Venezuela; I moved to San Francisco, CA to continue my studies in jazz performance and further my career as a guitarist. While attending San Francisco State University, I produced my debut album “Back to The Origin”, which is available on all the popular streaming services (Spotify, iTunes, google music, etc.).

Currently, I live in Sonoma County California, north of San Francisco, where I perform as a soloist for private events in Wine Country while working for the Santa Rosa Symphony and Sonoma State University.

As an Educator

I believe that music is a pure way of expression that helps us to grow emotionally. For this reason, I always reserve time to teach music and help my students develop their skills while learning how to express their feelings and ideas through music.

I have been a guitar instructor for 15 years, working with students of all ages and skills. I try to integrate theory, technique and repertoire with interactive sessions that allows each student to enjoy music while they learn.

Background and Education

I started my musical training at the age of twelve; I studied piano and classical Cuatro (a folk instrument from Venezuela). at the Jose Angel Lamas School of Music in Caracas, Venezuela.

At the age of 15, I fell in love with the guitar and since then, it has been my instrument of choice. At 19 years old, I took electric guitar lessons at the Centro de Enseñanza Musical Allegro (CEMA) with guitarist Dario Sosa, who was an important factor in Enrique’s style and technique.

In 2007, I enrolled in the jazz performance program at the University of Arts (Unearte) in Caracas. I had the privilege of studying with the best jazz performers in the city, which included Gonzalo Mico and Alvaro Falcon.

In 2010, I moved to California, USA where I got my Associate Degree in Arts while performing for the City College of San Francisco Big Band. I transferred to San Francisco State University, where I obtained a Bachelor of Music degree with emphasis in jazz performance.

In addition to my career as a musician, I have been fascinated by the recording and audio engineering aspect of music. I was mentored as a live audio technician by Eder Soto at the Centro Cultural Corpbanca, in Caracas, Venezuela. I attended a series of conferences in Mexico offered by the Audio Engineering Society (AES). I completed certifications in audio recording with specialization in Avid Pro Tools and Sibelius notation software.
